It is highly recommended you also purchase a Digital Certificate for your VPS.

All our WordPress VPS Servers run on the latest Ubuntu LTS Release (based on GNU/Linux) for speed and security. The webserver is powered by nginx and uses PHP7 (running as PHP-FPM) with MariaDB for lightning fast response times. WordPress is pre-installed and ready for setup.

Each VPS is monitored remotely for issues and can be rebooted on request. Both the GNU/Linux Operating System and WordPress (plus installed plugins) will update to the latest version as soon as they are available for added security.

Note: with this option, your WordPress VPS will automatically renew each MONTH via Paypal. However if you ever cancel your recurring payment (via your Paypal account) be aware your VPS will be deleted and all data lost. Please read this paragraph again if necessary and make sure you are very clear on this!

Note: you MUST keep up your payments for the server to stay online. If we see multiple payment failures via PayPal we WILL shutdown your VPS and close your account. There is NO process for reactivation. Therefore, please ensure when you get a new debit/credit card that you update your PayPal account.

Why should I use a VPS for my WordPress site?

A VPS is a virtual, private server that exists on a powerful physical machine similar to on shared hosting plans. But unlike shared hosting, you have a guaranteed allotment of system resources that ONLY you have access to. So, even if there is a much bigger website than yours on another VPS, hosted on the same physical machine, that won’t matter: you’re always guaranteed the system resources that you’re paying for, and your WordPress website will always be online.

How long does it take for my VPS to go live?

Usually less than 24 hours, sometimes less. If you don’t hear from us within 48 hours, there may have been a problem with your payment, or mails from us may have gone to your spam folder. Please check both before contacting us.

Once I get an email, how do I configure my VPS?

Pretty simple. You paste the IP Address we send you into a browser window, and WordPress will ask you to provide a language, email address, username and password. Once you enter these, your site is online. It takes less than a minute to complete!

How do I get my domain name to point at my VPS?

This one is a bit trickier, so we wrote a tutorial. Please have a read. Alternatively, if you are registering your domain with us, we’ll do this part for you.

How do I migrate the content from a previous web hosting plan to my VPS?

If your site already exists elsewhere, you will need to employ a WordPress Migration Extension to pull the content to your new VPS. Example include All-in-One WP Migration and Duplicator. There are many others.

What usage is allowed on VPS? Will it be shut down if I use too many resources?

You can use as much RAM and CPU on your own VPS as you want, and it will be quite hard to full your storage quota anytime soon. The only quota to worry about is traffic transfer. If your website becomes VERY popular, or you have a lot of file downloads, you could possibly exceed your limit. We don’t mind if this happens infrequently, but if it becomes a common occurrence we will contact you to discuss options.

What is an SSD?

There are hard disk drives (HDD) and then there are solid-state drives (SSD). SSD technology is the faster and more efficient alternative to traditional hard disk drives. An SSD does much the same job (saving your data while the system is off, booting your system, etc.) as an HDD, but instead of a magnetic coating on top of platters, the data is stored on interconnected flash memory chips that retain the data even when there’s no power present. The result is much faster performance and much less “wear and tear” as there NO moving parts to the disk.

Does my VPS have a swap partition?

Yes, it does! We have added a 2GB swap partition to the VPS. Swap space in Linux is used when the amount of physical memory (RAM) is full. If the system needs more memory resources and the RAM is full, inactive pages in memory are moved to the swap space. This means that even when under pressure, your VPS can still do it’s job.

Can I use caching on my VPS?

In the unlikely event you need to enable caching on your VPS, we have configured nginx as best we can to work with W3 Total Cache. See this tutorial for more information.
